Pillole di Champions: l'orgoglio United e il solito straripante CR7

Con i match di ieri sera sono andati definitivamente in archivio gli ottavi di finale di Champions League. Tutto come da pronostico, con le grandi d'Europa che non perdono colpi. Le favorite son riuscite a passare il turno con relativa semplicità; lo United, nobile in declino, ha sfoderato ieri una prestazione convincente. Tre squilli di tromba di Robin Van Persie fanno scorgere un minimo di sole ad un Moyes incupito, sempre più nell'occhio del ciclone in quel di Manchester.

Bayern v Arsenal: tutto come da pronostico. A nulla è valso un Podolski "profeta in patria", i bavaresi di Guardiola sono la grande favorita del torneo insieme al Real Madrid.
Lo spagnolo è soddisfatto: "Arsenal had prepared for this game and decided to play on the counter-attack. We managed to minimize the number of mistakes we made. We played in a very intelligent way. I am very pleased with my team".
Rammaricati ma carichi i Gunners, con un Ramsey positivo e pronto a nuove battaglie:



Atletico Madrid v Milan: "Dobbiamo affrontare tutti, ma se devo scegliere pesco l’Atletico Madrid: sulla carta è la più debole". Parole e musica di Sulley Muntari, che non aveva evidentemente fatto i conti con l'oste. Troppo forte l'Atletico di Simeone, che plaude ai suoi ragazzi dopo le quattro sberle rifilate al Diavolo. "I knew that Milan could complicate things. We started better than them in the first half, and it seemed that we would go on and control the game after the first goal, but they got back into it. However my players were excellent in the second half".



Barcelona v Manchester City: Messi e compagni difficilmente sbagliano. Non è un caso se nei migliori d'Europa, loro, ci sono sempre. Lo ha capito il City di Pellegrini, sfortunato nel sorteggio alla prima volta in un knock-out round di Champions. Fabregas e Messi sono felici e soddisfatti: "We knew tonight would be difficult. They are a world class team. The first leg was a great result but we knew tonight would be a hard game, too. We will take a lot of positives from this and go home very happy".
"We knew we had to get a goal to calm ourselves down because of the potential they have. In spite of their goal I think that the tie was never in danger. We played well throughout and achieved our objective of getting through. After two very serious slip-ups in the league, in games where we didn’t play well, today we saw the Barcelona that people expect to see and we defeated a very difficult rival".
Meno contento ma comunque positivo Vincent Kompany, capitano dei Citizens.



Paris Saint Germain v Bayer Leverkusen: I parigini hanno una squadra fenomenale, e se facessero lo scherzetto? Con lo 0-4 rifilato alle "aspirine" in quel di Leverkusen la qualificazione era già archiviata, ma gli uomini di Blanc non mollano l'osso. Plauso speciale a Sirigu, sempre più leader di una retroguardia di livello mondiale.
Simon Rolfes: "It's not easy playing a match like this when you know that you are out, but for us it was about honour and prestige".
Di tutt'altro tono, giustamente, in casa Psg. Marquinhos celebra il suo goal, l'ennesimo di una stagione pazzesca: "It went very well for me - I not only started but also proved that I can score. It's great for the team. However, we must improve our defensive record. We must work harder on not conceding a goal".

Chelsea v Galatasaray: il gatto e la volpe. Come sempre la spunta la volpe, alias Josè Mourinho. Troppo superiori le individualità del Chelsea; molto bello il saluto dello Stamford Bridge a Didier Drogba, l'eroe della storica Champions League dei Blues.
"We really played very, very badly. It’s impossible to score with just one shot on goal. We need to take several steps in order to be a better team", le parole di uno sconfortato Mancini.
"We are in the last eight, among the best teams in the world, and all the big clubs are there. All our players deserve to be. I think the most difficult thing [for Drogba] was the way his team played because if you are a striker and the team is not there playing behind you, then you are a lonely man – it has happened to every striker in the world, and tonight it happened to Didier".





Real Madrid v Schalke04: Immenso? Decisivo? Devastante? Cosa dire di più su Cristiano Ronaldo? E' un mostro..e insegna ai tecnici italiani che, se lavori sodo e sei un campione, il turnover non serve.
Lo Schalke ci ha provato e Keller lo sa. "I was pleased with tonight’s performance because anyone who watched the game saw that we restored our honour. The team displayed a fighting mentality". Troppo più forti gli uomini di Ancelotti, che pensa già al sorteggio di domani: "We showed a good attitude, especially in the second half. All the teams in the quarter-finals are very strong – they are the best in Europe".



Nota stonata il grave infortunio di Jesè Rodriguez, uno che in casa Merengue paragonano a Raùl..


Borussia Dortmund v Zenit: Lo Zenit ci prova, rigenerato dalla cura Semak; il Borussia passa il turno. Un match bello, frizzante, dove a passare sono i tedeschi, più forti ma meno convincenti dello scorso anno.
"If we could have played a bit better at home and achieved a better result, we would have had a chance to qualify. They were better than us over the two legs and deserved to go through", le parole di un Semak dispiaciuto; "Zenit have a great team. They play some quality football and on a good day they will cause problems for anyone. You can never rule out a goal by a great player like Hulk. He's difficult to defend against", le considerazioni del maestro Klopp.



Manchester United v Olympiakos: la vera impresa del match day. Lo United, questo United, può davvero essere felice. I quarti in Champions sono un bellissimo risultato, specie se confrontato con le pessime prestazioni in Premier. Moyes ringrazia i ragazzi: "The fans deserved that because they have been fantastic. We did not play well over there but they put it right tonight. The players gave everything", e non potrebbe essere altrimenti.
Dispiaciuti i greci, che probabilmente meritavano di passare il turno nel computo delle due partite. "Looking at that result, one might think that it was a one-way match but that was not the case. We had our chances but we failed to convert them", le parole di Mìchel.
Eroi di serata, secondo me, De Gea e lo straripante Van Persie. La tripletta del tulipano ha ricordato ai tifosi dell'Old Trafford un altro grande "Van", quel Ruud Van Nistelrooy che tante meraviglie ha regalato a Sir Alex e compagni.




Ed ora... se ci rifosse un super Clasico ai quarti?
